Margaret Cho Waxes Poetic About Anna Nicole Smith’s Death

February 26th, 2007 by dd

Anna Nicole Smith in Black

Did you know Margaret Cho has a blog? Who doesn’t have one? Anyway in case you’re interested, she includes a recent entry that compares Anna’s personal traits to “soft serve ice cream”, “ripe summer peaches”, and “rice pudding”. Hey, Margaret, fantasize about food much? Her, um, touching eulogy below:

I am very sad to hear of Anna Nicole Smith’s death. She’s about my age, and I used to see her around, back in the day when I used to see people around. I didn’t know her well, but I always thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. So pale and blonde, with this incredible soft serve ice cream vulnerability, like ripe summer peaches hot from the sun, or rice pudding made from grains boiled for over a day on the stove; Anna Nicole Smith was the goddess of all things that are sweet and enveloping.

I hope that she is happy now, where she is. It is easy to picture her there, riding the clouds, her young son at her side, a million miles above the paparazzi and the tabloids, the gossip columns and the lawsuits and Bobby Trendy and Trimspa and the rest. I hope she feels thin, and nothing is bugging her, and that she doesn’t have any more doubts or worries. Only puppies and kisses and love. Because she deserves that.

Korean ‘Sisters’ Finding Time to Work Together

Korean-American Margaret Cho is directing Korean actress Kim Yun-jin of Lost in the recently finished Two Sisters, a tale of sisters who make amends in their relationship by taking belly dancing classes. Kim stars in the film along with Tamlyn Tomita, a Japanese-born American actress.

“I liked the scenario because while it was about girls in the United States, it was a tale of ordinary sisters, not just Asians,” Kim said.

Initially Kim’s tight schedule with Lost made it difficult to accept the offer from Cho, who is a versatile actor, writer, business woman and now a director. But apparently their female bond and Korean roots made the cooperation possible.

“After meeting Margaret, I realized her passion for work and I wanted show that women have this bond as strong as men,'’ Kim said. “I also thought it would mean something for Koreans active in the United States to work together for a film since there are so few.'’
