Shu Qi - Brown Blue Eyed Girl

Shu Qi, Maggie Cheung, Michelle Yeoh, and Bai Ling are making the rounds and really putting in their face time at Cannes. Here are some more pics of the Chinese beauties at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Benefit. Michelle is Malaysian, I know, and, yes, that’s Bai with her clothes on this time. Check out Shu Qi with the blue eyes. A bit freaky but of course DaDump is oddly turned on…. not surprising.

Maggie Cheung Full of Grace in Cannes

May 19th, 2007 by dd

Maggie Cheung is the epitome of grace… except when she’s tripping over her gown walking down the steps on opening night. But even then she exhudes a simple elegance. Cheesy, huh? Either way, this Chinese, English, French speaking ageless wonder has been chosen to be a part of the Palm d’Or Award jury. With this responsibility she says that she will be voting for ‘good films’ and against those that ‘calculated and formulated.’

As a point of reference, Maggie won the best actress award at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Clean.

Zhang Ziyi Tops Useless Survey of the Day

March 9th, 2007 by dd

Why is there a pic of a two-faced piggy here instead of China’s most successful woman as voted by 0.0000002% of the country’s population. Weird.

Zhang Ziyi has been crowned China’s most successful woman, after 31,439 netizens voted for her in a national poll conducted by Sohu.com and fashion magazine “Bazaar”.

The voters say they voted for Zhang because of her successful acting career and growing reputation in the international film industry. They praised her for being smart, confident, independent and ambitious.

Actress Zhao Wei ran second in the poll. Most netizens think she transformed herself into a mature, intellectual modern woman after she returned to film school in 2006.

Ken Watanabe

The New York Times recently featured some artsy fartsy, self-congratulatory portraits of today’s hottest Hollywood stars. Not just your everyday pretty faces but ones with legitimate acting chops as Tinseltown ramps up for its annual Oscar telecast later this month. Among them were Ken Watanabe from “Letters of Iwo Jima”, Maggie Cheung of “Clean” and Rinko Kikuchi from “Babel”.
