Ming Na Wen Bucks Hollywood Trend and Actually Conceives an Asian Baby

June 26th, 2007 by dd

Ming-Na Wen showed up at the film premiere of Ratatouille with her daughter in Hollywood. When asked which country she adopted the adorable little girl, Ming-Na painstakingly explained to the paparazzi that she naturally conceived her daughter.

One confused reporter asked if she had consulted with Angelina Jolie or Meg Ryan before deciding on which Asian country to adopt her child. Meanwhile a fan was overheard remarking how “unhip” Ming-Na was for having an Asian baby the natural way while more conscientious and trendy Hollywood celebrities were “doing their part and saving orphan kids in China”.

An exasperated Ming-Na had no further comments.

Chow Yun Fat Promotes Casino in Macau, Sin City of Asia

April 14th, 2007 by dd

Trust me. No, seriously, I’m very trustworthy…

What better way to launch a brand campaign and clean up the seedy image of a city known for triads, corruption, prostitution and general seediness? Why, hire a well known actor best known for his roles as a gangster, gambler and cold blooded killer – DUH!

Hard Boiled, The Killer, The God of Gamblers, A Better Tomorrow… that’s the film resume of someone you want representing the resurgent island enclave of Macau, aka Las Vegas East.

Hotel and casino developer Crown Macau has unveiled it’s ‘Where great things happen’ launch campaign, starring Chow Yun-Fat.

Featuring a 90-second mini-movie, the film follows Chow through a “fantasy journey” through Crown Macau where he encounters Elyse Sewell, a model you might recognize from America’s Next Top Model (DaDump can’t make this stuff up, folks!) as they make their way through an exclusive private villa, some fine dining restaurants and the complex’s spa facility.

That got us thinking… who else would make great spokespersons and for which causes…
How about Tony Soprano and Atlantic City; Michael Jackson and the Boy Scouts; Sanjaya and the Grammy’s; Don Imus and the NAACP; George Bush and the US Presidency…

Utter lunacy I tell ya, c’est fou ca! But alas ‘tis the world we live in…

Hong Kong actor Edison Chen and extreme sports businessman AJ Hackett bungy both bungy jumped to world records yesterday from the 233m Macau Towers in Macau. Immediately following his successful jump, Edison messaged his girlfriend, EEG recording artist, Vincy Chan. Both Edison and AJ Hackett now have the opportunity to have their names recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Prior to the event, Edison’s father, mother and older sister flew to Macau to support him but Vincy was reportedly not in attendance. Edison’s father was so anxious that he experienced stomach cramps while his sister was not able to sleep the night before. Before the jump, Edison commented, “I don’t want to be scared. If I am scared, I will definitely not jump, in which case I would lose ‘face’.”

As he was about to jump at the top of the Macau Tower, Edison cried out, “I love you dad, mum!” When successfully finishing his jump, he happily exclaimed, “I feel great!” It is known that the organizers bought a heavy insurance for Edison. Edison immediately messaged his girlfriend after finishing the jump.

During an interview afterwards, Edison expressed that besides being able to receive a large amount of money, he was able to try something new.
