Asian Stars Show Off Their Flexibility

December 4th, 2006 by dd

The rising trend of Asian artistes embracing yoga as a way of life is giving star status to India’s oldest form of holistic science.

From Taiwan’s Elva Hsiao to Hong Kong’s Karen Mok and Singapore’s Tanya Chua, all have trumpeted the healing powers of yoga and its no-fuss workouts.

Some have released books or videos, like Taiwanese singer Tang Na and Korea’s Ok Joo Hyun, of girl band FinKL.

And Hong Kong-born Coco Lee is the face and svelte body behind the ad campaigns for the Pure Yoga chain in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.

Others like Korea’s Joo Hyun and Hong Kong’s Almen Wong have gone a step further and opened their own yoga studios.

Some people say that it is ironic how these Asian celebrities took so long to warm up to something that originated from this part of the world but which became popular only after aggressive promotion in the West.
