Was it just a big publicity stunt albeit a very expensive one? Did Comedian Eddie Griffin intentionally wreck a $1.2 million dollar Ferrari Enzo, one of only 400 produced in the world, in order to garner publicity for his upcoming film Redline?
Eddie was driving at a charity event that was also meant to promote the film filming a promo for a movie with Jackie Chan, when he took a turn too wide and went right into a wall. It was captured on video and can be seen if you CLICK HERE.
Perhaps some very sharp movie marketing people realized that an on-track incident at a well-known racing venue was an effective way to generate enormous amounts of media coverage. Whether it was simply an accident or a clever stunt designed to generate publicity, the producers sacrificed the Ferrari Enzo.
What’s more, the executive producer Daniel Sadek, whose exotic car collection is featured in the movie, actually owns the Enzo.
Eddie Griffin’s publicist, Lori Jonas, told TMZ, “It was not a hoax. Eddie was racing for a charity to promote his upcoming film, “Redline.” He got in an accident. He is suffering from neck and shoulder pain as a result of the accident. It was in no way a hoax.”
DaDump is glad no one got hurt although I did shed a silent tear after seeing the condition of that beautiful car. But considering how much press this event got, it’s hard not to think they got their money’s worth in free publicity, especially since the movie opens on April 12. Hmmmm…..
See more pics of Jackie before and after the Ferrari Enzo got smashed up after the jump!

Jaycee Chan, the son of Jackie Chan, is a budding actor and singer and based on tabloid stories, a budding Casanova. So what does it take to capture the romantic attention of this next generation star? According to Jaycee, he doesn’t ask for much in a girlfriend, just as long as the girl doesn’t scare him out of his wits with bad vocals.
‘If the girl is in the entertainment business, she needs to be able to sing and have her own style. But if she’s out of the circle, I’d prefer she not sing at all.’
He reasoned: ‘I’ve seen girls who look hot but they cannot sing, and it’s terrifying to see how hard they’re trying to hit that note and getting the tempo all wrong.
OK, not exactly what DaDump had envisioned the heir to Asia’s biggest action star would say but to each his own. Anything else he would look out for? Well, besides that, Jaycee also doesn’t want an airhead round his arm.
‘(I don’t ask for much) as long as they’re not dumb and ask stupid questions.
Read more about what Jaycee looks for in a girl and
what he’ll do to you if you mess with the moms… all after the jump!

Ewwww….
…and you would be too if you were doused with gallons of green slime at the Nickelodeon’s 2007 Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles, California. During host Justin Timberlake’s opening number, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker were recipients of the now infamous green slime that greets most, if not all, stars at one of the more irreverent and fun awards shows in town.
Here’s to big name stars who embrace their sliminess! And to those who are slimy on the DL (downlow), well you’re just gross.

Hey, don’t forget to mention that Rush Hour 3 comes out this summer, yo!

All indications are that Jackie Chan, whom Mallika Sherawat worked with recently in The Myth, was instrumental in getting the actress a role in the Hollywood film, Unveiled.
According to Times of India, the producer of the film, John Lind, has earlier worked with Chan in Shanghai Noon and when asked whether it was Jackie who recommended Mallika, he merely smiled, saying, “I can’t reveal that. But yes, I have worked with Jackie in Shanghai Noon, and all those associated with Mallika have had good things to say about her.”
Lind claims that it was when he and director Bill Bannerman saw Mallika at the Cannes Film Festival that they zeroed in on her.
“We saw how popular she was at the festival, and that helped us decide on our leading lady,” says Lind. Mallika of course, pretended to be mock-surprised at the news.
…who wouldn’t be popular in southern France looking like that!

Martial arts actor and stunt man Jackie Chan is trying to pull off his biggest stunt yet — convincing Asians to join the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Lee Baca is betting the Chinese star — whose mixture of slapstick, swift-footed martial arts and death-defying stunts helped him gain popularity with American audiences — will also win over Asians in his latest flick, a public service ad aimed at recruiting minorities to the force.
“As far as an icon, he’s well-known and looked up to in all communities, not just the Asian community,'’ said sheriff’s Deputy Luis Castro.
The PSA, lasting about as long as a TV commercial, will feature Chan getting out of a squad car and donning a sheriff’s deputy uniform, urging potential recruits to join the force and “doing his own stunts as usual,'’ Castro said. It will be shown during recruitment fairs and other events.
The number of Asian deputies “are on the lower end,'’ and Native Americans rank last. Castro is hoping Chan can help make the department more diverse. [KNX1070]

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing…

They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It’s an ancient Chinese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we’re into a brand knew trip

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing….
See who will join Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan and Tony Jaa as the greatest Martial Arts Dream Team EVER after the jump!!!

You bloggin’ at me, punk?!
There’s some random statistic floating around cyber-space that says tens of thousands of blah blah blogs are created every day. A dime a dozen really… except for yours truly, of course. So where else are entertainment junkies going to get their latest celebrity scoops? What alternatives do you have when the Dumpling is overcooked or the kitchen is closed? Why to the celebrities themselves!
According to StarCentral, celebrity blogging is the next best thing to the Daily Dumpling (a liberal interpretation of the article but you get the point). It’s “a strange combination of voyeuristic readers and exhibitionistic celebrities” but buyer beware… “by and large, these blogs are marketing ploys geared towards personal gain”. Imagine that. A celebrity using a medium such as the internet to exploit his/ her fans to garner attention beyond that which s/he already receives. The Dumpling is shocked… *yawn*
Well, if you really must go to the source instead of follow what the Daily Dumpling spoon feeds you daily, check out some Asian celebrity blog links that StarCentral put together after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS COMING OUTTA MY … BLOG!!!???
Don’t be offended. Just trying to have a little fun with Chris Tucker’s famous line when he first meets Jackie Chan in the original Rush Hour. Gosh, seems like forever ago.
Well, it seems as though this unlikely duo is about to embark on another set of shenanigans. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are reprising their roles as LAPD Detective James Carter and Chinese Chief Inspector Lee. This time, the two must travel to Paris to battle a wing of the Chinese triad crime family. These films have never been big on plot so hopefully their playful banter holds up with the test of time.
Enjoy the pics! [Movies Online]

This is NOT how the Macarena dance goes, Jackie!

AHHH!!! Don’t crash!… This Rush Hour franchise is the only thing keeping our careers afloat!

Who is likely to be named the richest actor in Hong Kong? While stars Jackie Chan Kong-sang and Chow Yun-fat come to mind for their multimillion dollar movie deals, for Stephen Chow, also known as Stephen Chiau Sing-chi, it has taken more than moviemaking to make it to the top.
Arguably the most successful comedian in Hong Kong movie history, Chow is reported to hold a property portfolio valued at more than HK$1.5 billion.
These include No10 Pollock’s Path, The Peak, which Chow bought in 2004 for HK$320 million and a redeveloped shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui with an estimated market value of HK$310 million. [The Standard]
