Edison Chen’s CLOT Inc. Throws 3 Year Anniversary Party

July 6th, 2007 by dd

The claws of time are reaching out and nipping at my ankles. It’s been almost a week since DaDump went to the 3rd Anniversary party for CLOT Inc. and I’m finally getting around to reporting on one of the better parties Hong Kong has seen in awhile. And by better, I mean I barely remember the majority of it from my inebriated state so I’m assuming it was good based of the scratch marks on my back and the incriminating pics on my Crackberry. But I digress…

Last Friday, CLOT threw a blowout party in a converted warehouse in Aberdeen. CLOT is the multi-dimensional company formed by HK actor and singer Edison Chen with several of his close friends. I could tell you about the familiar looking celebrity faces (DaDump only recognized Edison and his GF), the hordes of models, and the free flowing champagne open bar but it would be a feeble attempt at best.

For a more sobering account, you can check out my buddy and HK Inside Man’s rendition of the evening’s festivities at HK Hustle.

As for tonight, DaDump is off to see the Ghetto Superstar, Pras from the Fugees at another ‘pat me on the back’ party. Hopefully my alcoholic tendencies don’t prevent me from recounting what a great time I’ll be having tonight…

Hong Kong Film Stars Celebrate 10 Year Anniversary of Handover

June 27th, 2007 by dd

Time sure does fly. It’s been almost a full 10 years since the Handover. Remember that quaint little event back in 1997 when Prince Charles and the gang ceremoniously gave the little island of Hong Kong back to China.

Well the Hong Kong film industry certainly does. And in a bid to commemorate that anniversary and come up with another exuse for a party, a gala event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the Chinese mainland was held in Beijing on Monday.

Oops, She Did It Again: Yumiko Cheng Goes Clothing Optional

June 27th, 2007 by dd

yumiko3 1

DaDump lives for these moments. Not because he revels in the embarrassing mistakes of others but because traffic to the site surges from perverts all around the world seeking a cheap thrill.

Last year Yumiko Cheng suffered a wardrobe malfunction at a charity show and just recently while performing in Canada she suffered a more revealing mishap. At the NTSC Toronto show, during a singing performance, her dress slipped down to reveal some nip action.

Before you click on the video and blame me for misrepresenting the situation, be forewarned. First, this is a nip slip Asia style; not Hollywood style so instead of in-your-face full frontal, you’re going to have to look real close at your monitor.
Next keep in mind that the quality isn’t great so don’t shoot the messenger. And remember this isn’t Jessica Simpson or Pamela Anderson so this may require a little imagination and good old fashioned detective work for you to find what you’re looking for.

Finally, since this is a wholesome family site, the pics can be found after the jump.

Happy Hunting!

Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka-fai, best known for his role in The Lover, has been ordered to pay US$5,120 as damages to a bus driver after a car accident.

The award-winning actor was initially sued for $410,000 by Chong Pui-kin, the driver who claimed that Leung assaulted him. The judge however ruled that the 2002 attack was ‘grossly exaggerated’

PETA has compiled an extensive list of celebrity vegetarians and wants your vote for the 2007 World’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity! Based on this list, if you’ve ever felt alone in choosing tofu over chicken — fear not! You’re in very good company.

Currently leading the vote for sexiest male is Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and for the women, Spiderman 3’s Dallas Howard is racking up the points and pushing hard for the title.

Other celebrities in the running include Natalie Portman, Casey Affleck, Live Free or Die Harder Hottie, Maggie Q, Canto Pop King, Jackie Cheung, Barbie Xu, Joaquin Phoenix, Rubben Studdard, and 200 other leading lads and lasses.

First off, how is Maggie Q not leading the pack? Secondly, Rubben Studdard is a vegetarian? That must explain his ‘smooth as tofu’ voice.

Head on over to the voting page and pick your favorite vegetable munchers!

Jackie Chan Teams Up with George Foreman To Sell Grilling Machine in Asia

May 30th, 2007 by dd

jackie chan 1

Hoping to spread the magic of heavyweight champ George Foreman and his Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine to Asia, Foreman and Jackie Chan just finished shooting an East-meets-West infomercial in Hong Kong.

“The Asian market doesn’t know George well, but they know hamburgers and they know Jackie,” says Foreman’s business partner, who came up with the pairing of the grill and the boxing champ in 1994.

The only market the grill has not penetrated is Asia. Chan was looking for endorsement opportunities, and after months ironing out conflicting schedules, the filming of the infomercial came together.

The launch of the ad campaign in China is planned for August, with Japanese and Korean versions to follow.

Aaron Kwok: Great Dance Moves, Passable Singing, Questionnable Fashion Sense

May 26th, 2007 by dd

Aaron Kwok kicked off his solo world music tour in Toronto recently. DaDump isn’t criticizing his wardrobe since I still have a soft spot for acid wash jeans and Hush Puppies but isn’t it about time Aaron get a new fashion consultant to help with his on stage look?

Opening Festivals Is Getting to Be Old Hat: Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution to Open Venice Film Fest

May 26th, 2007 by dd

lustcaution

La dee da, here we go again. Getting to be ‘old hat’ this opening a festival thingee…
First Wong Kar-Wai came to a little town called Cannes and opened up a quaint little film festival there with his first foray into English speaking cinema called My Blueberry Nights. An art house film with a commercially viable Hollywood cast.

Now word has trickled out that Academy Award winning director Ang Lee’s new movie Lust Caution will be the opening movie of the 64th Venice Film Festival according to festival director Marco Muller. The cast includes Hong Kong veteran actor Tony Leung (Liang Chaowei), Taiwan pop singer Leehom Wong (Wang Lihong), and Chinese mainland newcomer Tang Wei, all of whom are expected to go to Venice at the end of August.

The movie is now in post-production in New York. Ain’t it grand that Asia is gaining the much needed attention it deserves. Film festival openings in Asia, Europe and in due time, the United States of the Americas!
