Edison Chen’s CLOT Inc. Throws 3 Year Anniversary Party

July 6th, 2007 by dd

The claws of time are reaching out and nipping at my ankles. It’s been almost a week since DaDump went to the 3rd Anniversary party for CLOT Inc. and I’m finally getting around to reporting on one of the better parties Hong Kong has seen in awhile. And by better, I mean I barely remember the majority of it from my inebriated state so I’m assuming it was good based of the scratch marks on my back and the incriminating pics on my Crackberry. But I digress…

Last Friday, CLOT threw a blowout party in a converted warehouse in Aberdeen. CLOT is the multi-dimensional company formed by HK actor and singer Edison Chen with several of his close friends. I could tell you about the familiar looking celebrity faces (DaDump only recognized Edison and his GF), the hordes of models, and the free flowing champagne open bar but it would be a feeble attempt at best.

For a more sobering account, you can check out my buddy and HK Inside Man’s rendition of the evening’s festivities at HK Hustle.

As for tonight, DaDump is off to see the Ghetto Superstar, Pras from the Fugees at another ‘pat me on the back’ party. Hopefully my alcoholic tendencies don’t prevent me from recounting what a great time I’ll be having tonight…

Canadian-born Cantopop star Edison Chen Hing-wah was Friday put on a one-year good behavior bond for kicking and denting a taxi in a moment of anger.

Principal magistrate Garry Tallentire put Chen, 27, also known as Chen Kwoon-Hei, on a HK$1,000 bond.

The Eastern Magistrates’ Court was earlier told the taxi company had in March received HK$4,700 as compensation for the two dents Chen had made.

Chen, who appeared in court accompanied by about 10 friends, did not speak to the press after the hearing.

I Blog, You Blog, Celebrity Blogs…

March 7th, 2007 by dd

You bloggin’ at me, punk?!

There’s some random statistic floating around cyber-space that says tens of thousands of blah blah blogs are created every day. A dime a dozen really… except for yours truly, of course. So where else are entertainment junkies going to get their latest celebrity scoops? What alternatives do you have when the Dumpling is overcooked or the kitchen is closed? Why to the celebrities themselves!

According to StarCentral, celebrity blogging is the next best thing to the Daily Dumpling (a liberal interpretation of the article but you get the point). It’s “a strange combination of voyeuristic readers and exhibitionistic celebrities” but buyer beware… “by and large, these blogs are marketing ploys geared towards personal gain”. Imagine that. A celebrity using a medium such as the internet to exploit his/ her fans to garner attention beyond that which s/he already receives. The Dumpling is shocked… *yawn*

Well, if you really must go to the source instead of follow what the Daily Dumpling spoon feeds you daily, check out some Asian celebrity blog links that StarCentral put together after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Edison Chen Keeps His Pimp Hand Strong by Becoming a Media Mogul

February 15th, 2007 by dd

26 year-old Edison Chen Koon Hei recently invested HKD$10m to open his own multi-media company, Clot Media Division which will produce movies, commercials, and music albums. Edison will be the CEO of the company and his partners include DJ Tommy, Chen Huanjen, and Lin Chienyueh. A press conference announcing the formation of this new venture was held at the Hong Kong Four Seasons yesterday.

Leaving behind his normal hip-hop look, Edison wore a dark business suit. Edison’s godfather, Anthony Wong Chau Sung and director Andrew Lau Wai Keung of “Infernal Affairs” were also present at the press conference.

“I didn’t want to sign with another music company after EEG. I put in a lot of effort and time in a music album, however I only reap X percentage in royalties!” Edison indicated that when he signs new artists, the company’s profit-share cut will be less extreme than most music companies.

Hmmm, wonder if that’s a not so subtle jab at EEG, CEO Edison! (Source: JayneStars )

Is Edison Chen on the verge of Holy Matrimony?

January 9th, 2007 by dd

edison chen

CriEnglish is reporting that Edison Chen announced his intention to marry girlfriend, Vincy Yeung, neice of EEG Group’s CEO, Albert Yeung, when he earns $150 million. I’m not sure how valid this is as he made this pronouncement at a party. Apparently the website thinks that Edison’s latest collaboration effort with comedian/ actor Stephen Chow is proof of a future marriage. The two actors have been reported to be in talks to film a big budgeted dance feature, with Edison likely to take the lead role.

It’s a poorly worded and confusing article but it’s no secret that Edison is seemingly quite serious with his latest belle. Between managing his clothing/ design company, making films and music albums and engaging in random publicity events, marriage would seem an unlikely step at this stage of his career. That said, we’ll have to see if his intentions as reported by this website are true.

Stay tuned…

Edison Chen Leaps to World Record

December 18th, 2006 by dd

Hong Kong actor Edison Chen and extreme sports businessman AJ Hackett bungy both bungy jumped to world records yesterday from the 233m Macau Towers in Macau. Immediately following his successful jump, Edison messaged his girlfriend, EEG recording artist, Vincy Chan. Both Edison and AJ Hackett now have the opportunity to have their names recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Prior to the event, Edison’s father, mother and older sister flew to Macau to support him but Vincy was reportedly not in attendance. Edison’s father was so anxious that he experienced stomach cramps while his sister was not able to sleep the night before. Before the jump, Edison commented, “I don’t want to be scared. If I am scared, I will definitely not jump, in which case I would lose ‘face’.”

As he was about to jump at the top of the Macau Tower, Edison cried out, “I love you dad, mum!” When successfully finishing his jump, he happily exclaimed, “I feel great!” It is known that the organizers bought a heavy insurance for Edison. Edison immediately messaged his girlfriend after finishing the jump.

During an interview afterwards, Edison expressed that besides being able to receive a large amount of money, he was able to try something new.

You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!… “Sexiest (Asian) Men Alive”

November 22nd, 2006 by dd

Daniel Dae Kim2

Edison Chen

In addition to John Cho being named one of People’s “Sexiest Men Alive” (see earlier posting), three other Asian American men were mentioned in the same issue. They include Hong Kong’s Edison Chen, the multi-talented Asian superstar, actor, rapper, and fashion designer, Daniel Dae Kim, the Korean American on the hit series LOST, and Yul Kwon, the 31year old Korean American Survivor contestant who graduated from Stanford and Yale Law and is now a management consultant.

Congrats to them and here’s to FINALLY getting rid of that William “She Bang, She Bang” Hung stereotype!
