Zhang Jingchu is an emerging actress from China on the verge of super-stardom. She avoids the obvious comparisons to Zhang Ziyi, preferring to chase the ‘brass ring’ on her own merits, but with a slew of high profile films soon to be released including the Finnish film, Jade Warrior, and Hong Kong film, Protege, with Andy Lau and Daniel Wu, she’s well on her way to being a household name. Rush Hour 2 helped US audiences identify with Zhang Ziyi after Crouching Tiger launched her career. All bets are on that Rush Hour 3 will do the same for Zhang Jingchu. According to Canada.com:
“Rising Chinese film star Zhang Jingchu will make her Hollywood debut in “Rush Hour 3,” following in the footsteps of fellow star Zhang Ziyi.
In her 20s, Zhang Jingchu will play Soo Yung, the daughter of the Chinese ambassador who was kidnapped in the first instalment of the “Rush Hour” series, which stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, said publicist Guy Adan.” [Canada]
