Ming-Na Wen showed up at the film premiere of Ratatouille with her daughter in Hollywood. When asked which country she adopted the adorable little girl, Ming-Na painstakingly explained to the paparazzi that she naturally conceived her daughter.
One confused reporter asked if she had consulted with Angelina Jolie or Meg Ryan before deciding on which Asian country to adopt her child. Meanwhile a fan was overheard remarking how “unhip” Ming-Na was for having an Asian baby the natural way while more conscientious and trendy Hollywood celebrities were “doing their part and saving orphan kids in China”.
An exasperated Ming-Na had no further comments.

And you thought mild indigestion was the worst that could happen at an eating contest? Well, think again.
Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi, who has won six straight Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contests, suffered a serious jaw injury while training for the July 4 event.
The Japanese eating legend was diagnosed with jaw arthritis and can barely open his mouth. In an entry on his blog entitled “Occupational hazard,'’ Kobayashi said: “My jaw refused to fight any more.'’
“I feel ashamed that I couldn’t notice the alarm bells set off by my own body,'’ he said. “But with the goal to win another title with a new record, I couldn’t stop my training so close to the competition. I was continuing my training and bearing with the pain but finally I destroyed my jaw.'’

As first reported on Sunday, Cameron Diaz caught some flack for sporting a bag with a political slogan while sightseeing Machu Picchu in Peru’s Andes on Friday. The fashion statement turned out to be a fashion faux pas, especially in Peru, where the translated Chinese slogan read “Serve the People” evoking memories of Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong and the memories associated with him are bloody.
In a statement emailed to the Associated Press, Cameron said:
“I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have inadvertently offended. The bag was a purchase I made as a tourist in China and I did not realize the potentially hurtful nature of the slogan printed on it.”
The ironic part of this story is the actress is in Peru to participate in a Canadian television show “4 REAL” that celebrates Peru’s culture. The show focuses on young community leaders around the world.
Cameron went on to state how she never meant to hurt anyone with her taste in fashion. “I’m sorry for any people’s pain and suffering and it was certainly never my intention to reopen what I now know is a painful wound in this country’s history and wish for their continued healing.”

Half brothers Julian and Sean Lennon have begun speaking to each other again.
Their reconciliation follows Julian’s eight-year feud with Sean and Sean’s mother, Yoko Ono, the widow of the men’s father, Beatle John Lennon, the New York Post reported.
The rift stemmed from comments Julian made about Yoko Ono, he told the Post. Julian’s mother is John’s first wife, Cynthia.
“I thought it time to make big changes in my own life,” Julian, 44, told the Post in what the paper said was his first interview since 1999. “Part of that has been to get Sean back into my life, because I love him so much.”
After contacting Sean’s tour manager this year, Julian surprised his half brother backstage after a show in Prague. “We just hugged and held each other,” Julian recalled.
Julian joined Sean, 31, on the tour bus, sleeping on the floor and traveling through Croatia and Slovenia, he said. [Y!]

Dirrty Girl, Christina Aguilera, shook the Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium on Saturday in the South Korean capital.
The four-time Grammy-Award winner was supported by local K-pop singer Ivy.
Prior to the concert was a controversy surrounding a last-minute ticket clearance sale. Organizers of the performance initially sold A-class seats at US$95. However, beginning on June 13, an Internet shopping site began to sell pairs of A-class seats at 40-percent discounted price for both.
It is almost unprecedented in Korea to sell concert tickets of foreign popular stars at such sharply discounted prices. As a consequence, performance-goers who purchased tickets earlier became angry; some canceling their ticket purchases and buying tickets again at the discounted prices after getting a refund.
A lack of interest in the concert is not being named as the culprit; rather, it appears inflated ticket prices are to blame.

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming seems likely to walk down the aisle this August with fiancée Ye Li, a player on the Chinese women’s basketball team.
Houston Rockets manager Daryl Morey was quoted as saying that the couple will hold their wedding after Yao has finished practices in July. The “small giant” will later join the national team for some exercises and warm-up matches in September before returning to Houston to prepare for the new season.
Glad to hear that the big guy could squeeze in a wedding between his commitments to the Rockets and the China National team. Mazeltov to the happy couple from DaDump!
