Cameron Diaz Manages to Offend Entire Nation with Her Mao Bag
June 25th, 2007 by ddActress Cameron Diaz appears to have committed a major fashion faux pas in Peru. She may have inadvertently offended Peruvians who suffered decades of violence from a Maoist guerrilla insurgency by touring there Friday with a bag emblazoned with one of Mao Zedong’s favorite political slogans.
While explored the Inca city of Machu Picchu high in Peru’s Andes, Diaz wore over her shoulder an olive green messenger bag emblazoned with a red star and the words “Serve the People” printed in Chinese on the flap, perhaps Chinese Communist leader Mao’s most famous political slogan.
Nearly 70,000 people were killed during the insurgency.
“It alludes to a concept that did so much damage to Peru, that brought about so many victims,” said Pablo Rojas about the bag’s slogan. “I don’t think she should have used that bag where the followers of that ideology” did so much damage. [Y!]

Entire nation? Are you sure of what you are writing? I am from Peru and I know for a fact that most Peruvians don’t care what she is wearing, a bag doesn’t make any difference, we know our history and guerrilla group Shining Path caused as much violence and dead as paramilitary and armed forces of Peru. A bag doesn’t reflect any of that.

On another gossip blog, white people were offended for Peruvians and went on and on about how she should have known better. It gotten to a point that they are sending letters.
If that group that reported this to the media were so offended, they should have told HER and not the media and tabloids. How is she going to learn?
