Lisa Ling Marries Her ‘Doctor McDreamy’
May 29th, 2007 by ddLisa Ling, correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show and National Geographic Channel, married Chicago-based doctor Paul Song on Saturday evening in Los Angeles.
The bride walked down the aisle in a stunning, bright red Vivienne Tam dress in front of 550 family and friends including her journalism mentor Connie Chung and actresses Kelly Hu and Diane Farr.
Even preparing for the Asian-themed ceremony proved memorable. “My husband [marketing executive and Song friend Seung Chung] went shopping in Chinatown,” says Farr , “We came with a whole crew so he bought 10 outfits – everything from pajamas to silkies. Then we had a dress-up party at my house.”
Ling, 33, and Song, 41, got engaged over the holidays after he surprised her by flying their families to Chicago for the proposal which took place in a private dining room of Charlie Trotter’s restaurant.
Ling met Song, a radiation oncologist at Chicago’s Little Company of Mary Hospital, through mutual friends in 2006.
Currently living apart – Ling in Washington, DC, and Song, in Chicago – the couple plan to settle in Los Angeles. The change, say friends, will be good for Ling. As she told PEOPLE in 2003, “I hope my desire to travel so much isn’t forever because it’s not the most conducive lifestyle for a relationship or a family by any means.” [People]

Totally hot mcDreamy!

Doctor McDreamy, my ass. Paul Song was well known in Washington, D.C. (where he lived when he met Lisa Ling) for being an emotionally crippled, two-timing bastard who couldn’t tell the truth to a woman. Ask anyone in the D.C. social scene, and they’ll tell you. He moved to Chicago under a very heavy cloud from the mess he left behind. Since Lisa was not part of the DC world, she might not have a clue.
Good luck, Lisa. Better keep a very close eye on this jerk while you’re off having a career.

Well, I guess I take it back then. That’s gross!

i agree. everyone knows in dc what a fake, opportunistic guy he really is. he’s clearly using her for his own advances.
May 31st, 2007 at 1:00 pm
so how long will this marriage last?
May 31st, 2007 at 2:19 pm
OMG, Are you serious? Where’d you guys get this scoop?? That’s horrible! I thought he was this sincere guy that Lisa had to dump her ex. OMG!
Somebody needs to rescue her quick! Poor girl she’s so gorgeous!

I knew him in DC. He dated one of my friends and was not the most honest guy. He was a notorious womanizer. How Lisa Ling didn’t know this is beyond me Maybe he’s changed…

In my humble opinion, Ling would do better to get a caucasian guy, there shouldn’t be a lacking for her! Of course she has to like him first. Ok, i am always in favor of mixing the bloods, being one myself

You’re a dumbass.
As if there couldn’t be a changed Asian guy or good Asian guys out there for Asian women. What’s your next suggestion? All Asian women marry white men and Asian men commit suicide?

Let me guess, your mother was Asian. Give me a break, your racism against Asian men is very telling and it’s ironic that you’d preach racism under the guise of non-racism.
Idiot.

Yes, because we all know that everything we read about on the internet is the truth.
Maybe the people posting these comments have an axe to grind against Song?
I don’t know the man personally but do yourself a favor and take everything on the internet with a grain of salt.
Geez, people can be so impressionable.
June 2nd, 2007 at 6:09 am
CoteDazur, I am sure you are the type that likes to play up your asian ancestry so that your GI Joe can then come and rescue, rape you.
June 5th, 2007 at 10:06 am
I’m not a fan of Lisa Ling but I think it is nice news and I hope it works out. They have matching heads. I think she looks nicer with him than with the other men she has been photographed as being attached to.

to “To_Daniel” — I wrote it because I knew him. A lot of people in DC knew him. He’s a liar and a cheater. I didn’t know Lisa Ling. Maybe she is too, who knows. But for sure, she has married a man who has no emotional needs except the freedom to say and do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, without any responsibility to anyone but himself. And he’ll never, never change. He’s the type who will be this way forever. (He also has a creepy desire for fame. He had this crazy idea he’d be on Survivor or Road Rules.)
I bet “tan” and I know each other. Given what “tan” wrote, I bet we have a certain friend in common who knows the real Paul Song better than anyone in the world, quite unfortunately.
Anyway - once they are in L.A., it’s only a matter of time when the stories start coming out. Just wait, and watch.
June 7th, 2007 at 7:31 am
and to “Rob” — you’re probably one of the few people left in DC who knew him who still defends him for some reason, probably cuz you’re at Smith Point or Milano doing the same shit he pulled.
June 8th, 2007 at 12:11 am
Danielle, one word - INTROSPECTION. Most folks that post hating blogs could use a good dose of it. Looks like you know Paul and that makes your post reek all the more of petty jealousy and effete vengence. Good luck finding a man one tenth of who Paul is - in DC or wherever. No one’s perfect, but he’s a fabuous guy, is universally regarded as so, and they are a great couple.
June 8th, 2007 at 12:56 am
I am actuall pretty happy for both of them. She’s hot and he’s smart and got his shit together. What’s better. If Tan and Daniel or their friends represent DC women, then we all should applaud Paul for having found Lisa after living amongst the rubble that lives here.
Rob you made the most rational statement to date - “don’t believe everything you read.” Especially if it comes from psychotic, neurotic, socially inept people that lament others happines because they can’t find it for themselves. I live in DC and as cities go for women it is the cattiest and most bitter palce i’ve been. Not that thereare not good people, cause there are, but sme of the worst live here. And of those who are bad, most are golddigers. The fact that either Tan or Daniel know about Cafe Milano or Smith Point shows that they or their friends fit that mold as those types of places are only frequented by women looking to seduce older men, lay claim to them and their hard earned dollar after a drink or a date and then tell everyone that they are soon to be married. its funny actually and you all should visit. Smith point is the same way but they are younger and pretty much drunk throughout the night. (y knid of place!!!) I don’t ususally go to these types of places too often but many of the women there are ones to watch out for as they are not all together there. Usually scorned from the simplest of things like “sorry i’m not interested.” They seem to thrive on attention and seem to thrive on the Yogi Bera model - “any attention is good, even negatie attention.” At least somebody is looking right????Also quite peculiar, they never have any money to buy there own drinks??? But I digress…. Its sad really, but entertaining from afar. One thing of note that Rob also said, not that I frequent these sites, but knowing Paul for a short time and not being able to go to the wedding, i looked for some pub on it and found this and another site. Noticed, LOW AND BEHOLD that this is not the only place where you can find the “Rantings of Daniel.” She has posted about this several times. AX TO GRIND???? No job??? Can’t sleep??? Or JUST PLAIN BITTER THAT SHE CAN”T HAVE PAUL??? Seems like you are more pissed that you didn’t make it to the alter. But then given your rantings here, its hard to wonder why he wouldn’t pick you???? I’m mean your so lovely and pleasant - like a sea urchin or a man o’ war. Interesting from afar i’m sure, just don’t try to play with it.
Also, you can add me to Rob and the few friends Paul has. Oh, and lets not forget the nearly 600 people that were reported to have attended the wedding. Many, about a 100, were my friends from DC.
Wonder if Tan or Daniel will have that many show up for them, or could even invite that many. More like 6, including themselves.
Why don’t you guys give it a rest and let the happy couple be. I mean what are you trying to accomplish? Oh yeah, I forgot your just bitter, so there is nothing to accomplish but the selfish desire to trash good peole.
June 8th, 2007 at 2:38 am
I think its hilarious that the people critizing Daniel or others on this post, including myself, are doing the exact same thing. How can we have too much time on our hands when you are also posting lengthly ramblings on here.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:20 am
I’ve chosen to stay out of such a childish display of pure jealously if i’ve ever seen one, but Daniel is taking this too far. Unlike “Daniel,” I’m not going to be a pussy and hide behind the anonymity of the internet by giving fake names, or resorting to spending my lonely friday nights bashing guys I rarely know with my friends. I ask “Daniel” one simple question that we would all love to have answered; what are you trying to accomplish? Has therapy not gone well? Are you still struggling with your persistent fall to mediocrity, as circus midgets and real people without an agenda pass you by. Has your therapist not yet help you get past not getting enough hugs from your dad or your uncle playing late night sneeky in the closet? Whatever your agenda is you are picking a fight with a man known in ALL circles as being an incredibly warm, generous, and absolutley selfless individual. To list off this man’s accomplishments, and contributions to charity, family, church, and friends would take the better part of my week. I say if you know Paul so well as to try to publicly slander him on the internet, then do so without hiding behind the curtain of “Daniel.” I recommend if you want to pick a fight chose one of his friends, maybe then you’d have a fighting chance. With that I say we all raise a glass and toast to the happily married couple.

Tan: As the gatekeepers to a civil and honaorable society, defending a friend and good person from social heathens is time well spent. Keep em comin’, or just tell me where we can continue the debate in public free from the shrouds of cowardice. Up for it? Didn’t think so. You can bring Daniel if need someone to write your lines.
June 8th, 2007 at 4:55 am
Good God. Why all the debate over two very random people? Sure they’ve probably worked hard to get where they are, but I would hardly consider Lisa Ling a ‘celebrity’, she’s a journalist and her husband is a Dr. like many other people in the world. Maybe they are compassionate, but you people act as through Paul’s Jesus himself or the Dali Lama.
June 9th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
is he chinese or korean??
June 17th, 2007 at 1:02 pm
You can defend Paul Song all you want. It won’t change what he did back in DC, and he knows what he did. And he’ll have to live with it for the rest of his life, if he even gives a rat’s ass. End of story.
June 17th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
DOes anybody know if Paul song is Chinese or Korean?
June 18th, 2007 at 12:39 am
Come on Daniel. Tell us what he did! It must be juicy. Tell us.
He’s Korean
June 19th, 2007 at 2:32 am
YEAH DANIEL!!!! TELL US, pleeeaaaassse???
Oh, Katie - He’s American!! ;} by way of korea.

Maybe we should force everyone by law to marry and conceive children with the member of another race. That way, in a few generations, we could all look the similar, and share the same culture. Since there would be no more races, there would be no more racism. God should send a prophet and lawgiver to decree it.
