So you thought Maddox Jolie-Pitt was the only star out of Cambodia, huh. (Honestly, so did we) But leave it to the NY Times to report on a Cambodian actress who left the glitz and glamour the adulation of her adoring fans in Cambodia to be with her husband in the posh neighborhood of the Bronx.

Apparently a 43-year old owner of a grocery store in the Bronx traveled to Cambodia and brought back Ratana Veth, his 24-year old bride and popular actress/ karaoke singer. The two spend weekends barnstorming the country’s other Cambodian neighborhoods, where Ms. Veth sings on the Khmer heritage festival circuit.
Although Ms. Veth is lavished with affection at her shows, she says she misses the constant attention she received in Cambodia, where she could barely stop at a red light without being thronged with admirers. But she insists that she is enjoying her life in the city, adding that the clothes and makeup shopping is incomparable. “I have always dreamed of moving to New York,” she said.
