I Blog, You Blog, Celebrity Blogs…
March 7th, 2007 by ddThere’s some random statistic floating around cyber-space that says tens of thousands of blah blah blogs are created every day. A dime a dozen really… except for yours truly, of course. So where else are entertainment junkies going to get their latest celebrity scoops? What alternatives do you have when the Dumpling is overcooked or the kitchen is closed? Why to the celebrities themselves!
According to StarCentral, celebrity blogging is the next best thing to the Daily Dumpling (a liberal interpretation of the article but you get the point). It’s “a strange combination of voyeuristic readers and exhibitionistic celebrities” but buyer beware… “by and large, these blogs are marketing ploys geared towards personal gain”. Imagine that. A celebrity using a medium such as the internet to exploit his/ her fans to garner attention beyond that which s/he already receives. The Dumpling is shocked… *yawn*
Well, if you really must go to the source instead of follow what the Daily Dumpling spoon feeds you daily, check out some Asian celebrity blog links that StarCentral put together after the jump…
Here’s a gem from Edison Chen’s blog:

Jay Chou
27, Taiwanese musician
http://blog.sma.com.en/u/113S600822
What’s up: Chou reveals a more sensitive side to his bad-boy image as he writes about life at home. Writing about his mother and the troubles she went through for his sake, he urges his fans to be filial and obedient to their parents. Gripes about the paparazzi dogging him incessantly also show his humorous side. But mainly, the Chinese entries are updates on his music and movies
Juicy tidbit: He plays pranks on the paparazzi.
Soundbite: “If it were me, I would have taken those paparazzi, tied them to my car and spun them round a few times.” (On being furious when the paparazzi revealed a friend’s name and address in the papers.)
Jackie Chan
52, actor-director-scriptwriter-producer
www.jackiechan.com/messages
What’s up: Welcome to the world of Jackie Chan, where his existence revolves around work and little else.
Updated daily, he religiously details his daily grind. Readers follow him as he jet sets around the world, from promotional tours right down to visits to the dentist.
Juicy tidbit: Chan exercises when he is bored.
Soundbite: “Sometimes it feels good to get some rest. Since wrapping Rob-B-Hood I’ve rested for two days. The first few hours were quite enjoyable, but … after that I had no idea what to do! … It is so boring! Usually when I have extra time I think about doing exercises … so I immediately went jogging.”
Annie Yi

What’s up: An eloquent mix of photos, Chinese poetry and prose. The mood vacillates between wistful moments and whimsy. Topics range from the frivolous (the joys of fashion) to the heart-warming (friendship and family).
Photos are given candy-coloured frames, adding to the visual feast of colours.
With over 15 million hits to date, this informative blog is a must-read.
Juicy tidbit: Yi calls herself “Princess” and likes to post entries just before she goes to bed.
Soundbite: “Hahahaha/ Haven’t heard the princess laugh for a long time/ feels too good now/ there isn’t a choice/ tomorrow I resume real life/ I’m going to doll myself up/ tomorrow I sing a last song/ I will work hard/ Hahahaha” [StarCentral]
