Baby Tiger Set to Pounce Next Year

December 31st, 2006 by dd

Tiger Woods had double cause to celebrate on Saturday when he announced on his 31st birthday that his wife Elin will give birth to their first child next year.

“We are expecting our first child this summer,” the American world number one said on his official Web site.

“Obviously, we couldn’t be happier and our families are thrilled. I have always wanted to be a dad. I just wish my father could be around to share the experience.”

Woods’s father Earl died in early May this year after a long battle with cancer.

His son took a nine-week break from golf to deal with his father’s illness and subsequent death before ending the 2006 PGA Tour with eight victories, including two majors.

Despite his remarkable golfing form in a season he rates as his best ever, Woods described the year overall as one of loss.

“Certainly (this was) the most difficult season I’ve ever had,” he said before winning the Target World Challenge in California earlier this month, his final tournament of the year.

“You don’t ever want to lose a parent, your father, your mentor, your best friend.

“When that day happens … you think you can handle it and all of a sudden it happens and you find out it affects you much deeper than you thought previously.” [Y! News]

Brenda Song: No Longer Jail Bait

December 29th, 2006 by dd

Brenda Song

Brenda Song4

Brenda Song is the perky 18 year old that your kids are more likely to know more than you. Song has appeared in the feature film Like Mike (2002) and A Cinderella Story (2004), the made-for-TV movies Get a Clue (2002) and Stuck in the Suburbs (2004), and has had co-starring roles on such television series as Phil of the Future and The Suite Life.

Although she isn’t well known to the vast majority of TV viewers and moviegoers, the half Hmong, Half Thai actress is an up-and-coming teen sensation. Even at a young age, she’s already a seasoned veteran, having started in on the acting game around the time she was learning to stitch sentences together.

Hooray for Bollywood

December 27th, 2006 by dd

Merchants of Bollywood

A new show featuring the music and dance of Bollywood has hit London.

The Merchants of Bollywood comes from producer Harvey Goldsmith - the brains behind the Live Aid and Live 8 events - and is on tour in the UK for the first time.

It opened last week and saw a cast of Indian dancers re-tell the story of the Merchant family, whose choreography has helped shape Hindi cinema over several decades.

In a series of high energy dance sequences the show picks out classic routines and scenes from Bollywood films across the ages, charting the progress from traditional dance to modern disco inspired extravaganzas.

It’s the latest celebration of Indian cinema to come to this country. Bollywood has become more and more popular in the UK, not just among Asian audiences, but also those whose film tastes hark back to the big Hollywood song and dance spectacles of the Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly eras.  [Cambridge]

Michelle Reis: Beauty and the Billionaire

December 27th, 2006 by dd

Hong Kong’s always been a place of one ups-man ship so with a recent HK$100 million weekend wedding just passed, why not throw caution to the wind and start the rumor mill floating that an even better wedding is in the works.
According to Crienglish, famous Hong Kong beauty Michelle Reis recently admitted that she is the mistress of Hong Kong tycoon Xu Jin Heng who is the vice president of Hong Kong’s Henderson Group.

Then, a few days ago, while attending his nephew’s wedding, the billionaire himself revealed that he is undergoing divorce proceedings with his wife.

Speculation is now underway that the two will be married in which case Michelle will be related to a Hong Kong family worth over HK$20 billion.

Their anticipated marriage is fast becoming the most awaited lavish wedding event of the year… if it happens. Can’t say either party has demonstrated the best behavior to warrant a fairy tale wedding. And the cynic in me wonders if this newly exposed relationship has the legs to reach the chapel. Time will tell and the Dumpling will keep you updated.

2006 Daily Dumpling Awards

December 26th, 2006 by dd
It’s that time of year again. Time to reflect on the year gone by and jot down our hopeful resolutions in anticipation of the year ahead. Before we close the book on 2006, however, the Daily Dumpling thought it would be fun to hand down our first annual Dumpling awards. This wholly unscientific and completely biased survey is meant to highlight the best and, in one case, the worst that dumplings the world over have to offer. So before I get too long winded and non-sensical, may I now present to you, the ‘Dumplings’:

Korean Singer Nam Gyuri of See Ya Accidentally Bears a Boob

December 26th, 2006 by dd

Nam Gyuri

Slippages are a common occurrence among Hollywood starlets. You’ve got Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” a few years back at the SuperBowl where Justin Timberlake revealded a star pierced boob, Britney Spears’ consecutive days display of her well coiffed ‘lady area’ to paparazzi shortly after her announced divorce, and Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan making headlines with their revealing clothes and peek-a-boo body parts.

But in ‘modest’ Asia, there’s been a recent surge in Voldemort body parts, ie those of which we should not talk about. Gong Li experienced some boob slippage at the premeire of her new movie Curse of the Golden Flower, Bai Ling is always ‘accidentally’ exposing herself to flashing cameras and now comes word that Korean pop band See Ya’s front singer, Nan Gui Li, joined the illustrious ‘Whoops!’ club.

At a Big 4 concert in Seoul, the all girl band, See Ya, performed and during their performance, Nan Gui Li’s over exuberant dance routine caused the bra strap on her costume to break, exposing her breast. She was so ‘in the zone’ that it didn’t occur to her that her breast was exposed and waving to the audience for nearly a minute.

Nan Gui Li later apologized to the audience and continued performing with more verve. Meanwhile the male members of the audience sat back down as to avoid any further embarrassment or potential conflict with their dates.

Angelica Panganiban: Philippine Photoshop Queen

Technology is a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it can provide us with greater access to information than ever before; on the other hand… well, thanks to this same technology, the other hand is busy.

That said, a recent Philippines Maxim cover had many a tongue waggin’ with its child star turned sex siren cover girl, Angelica Panganiban. Her innocent visage paired with a voluptuous figure made for a stunning spread. However, PinoySpy uncovered some photos from the dressing room prior to the photoshoot which revealed that all may not have seemed as it appeared. Someone from the production team most likely leaked the photos but for what reason is still unclear.

“According to my (PinoySpy) source in the magazine industry, such pictures of the model were necessary to identify the “areas that need improvement.” The digital artists need to see the imperfections in the model’s body and also to make sure that the enhancements will not deviate too much from what’s real.”

The pic comparison is somewhat dramatic but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking these people are perfect. Probably 100% of all the models you see in magazines are photoshopped anyway. With that taken into account, Angelica Panganiban is still by all means a beautiful and sexy actress… maybe even more so after the revelation of these pics.

Check out some more before and after images after the jump…
